La Fundación Unicaja acaba de publicar los cuatro primeros volúmenes de los manuscritos de Antonio y Manuel Machado, que le costaron 625.000 euros. (¡quién hubiera dicho que se pagara así la poesía en este pais!)
Todo empezó con una subasta celebrada el 20 de noviembre de 2002. Al frente de Unicaja se encuentra Braulio Medel, un sevillano de Marchena, gran lector y admirador de los Machado. Atento a la jugada desde el primer momento, y con rigurosa discreción, lo dispuso todo para que la entidad que dirige se hiciera con los documentos. A la primera noticia sobre el destino del fondo, él mismo añadió otra buena nueva: no saldrían de Sevilla.
